misty9

Brendan Perkins

Brendan Perkins BA (1st class hons) has been playing music since the age of 14, and quickly became familiar with many different instruments. This has given him the advantage of being able to create entire finished works of music with little help from anyone else.

Starting off with basic Portastudio equipment, Brendan created many wierd and wonderful songs that exposed such influences as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Jeff Wayne, Marillion, as well as various other progressive rock artists.

Brendan has spent many years working with other people, using his multi-instrumental and production skills to help create the sounds required by other artists. As with many people, his self confidence in his singing was rather low, until some great encouragement from family and friends led to the confidence needed to try something new.
In 2010 he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree (Creative Music) with first class honours. He is now setting up a business as a UK music composer, music producer, sound engineer and studio technician.

Just dicovered his brilliant new album "Ternie Kell", which is an epic rock opera, but he has a huge discography at all.

Can't find more information about the artist at the moment, the only information I can provide is that there's also a comic about the story of the concept album in the making...some pages you can see here.

Kiama

Kiama is touted as a progressive rock “supergroup”, featuring Rob Reed (Magenta/Kompendium), Andy Edwards (Frost*/IQ), Luke Machin (Maschine/The Tangent) and Dylan Thompson (Shadow of The Sun/The Reasoning).

Kiama’s debut album "Sign Of IV"was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s ‘Real World’ studio.

“We drew from a pool of musical references from the early seventies who were primarily thought of as rock bands, but to me were responsible for some of the greatest ‘Prog’ epics. Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and “Stairway to Heaven. Rainbow’s “Stargazer” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” were the order of the day. There was no point in doing what each of us had done previously in our respective bands, the goal was to do something different . One ingredient that you find with these classic albums of the 70’s, was that the bands were not afraid to mix the styles of music up from track to track. On a Zeppelin or Queen album, each track would have a different feel, rock, folk, jazz, blues. This is something we were not afraid to do. we just did what we liked, so each track ended up with a different feel. These days albums are very linear, stay in one style and can be a little monotonous.”

"Sign Of IV"reflects the very best in modern progressive music. Skilfully written. Organic and spacious arrangements. Nuances, mood changes and littered with sweet moments.
A record worth remembering.
