Talitha Rise

Music is what makes my life complete, it fills the holes and spaces in time and I honestly couldn’t be without it.
Some music is so compelling that it can take over your life, pausing you in a moment in time, not caring or worrying about anything else and the elfin, ethereal vocals of Talitha Rise (better known as Jo Beth Young) definitely belong in that category.
Following on from the beautiful EP ‘Blue’, Jo has released her debut full length album "An Abandoned Orchid House" on June 1st 2018.
It is a release full of captivating, wistful songs wound around themes of isolation and abandonment. Jo Beth Young has a sublime and refined voice that has a haunting aura and reminds me of an early Kate Bush or Tori Amos and it is her most potent weapon. When added to the intelligent, captivating lyrics it gives wonderful songs. ‘An Abandoned Orchid House’ was recorded in many locations from living rooms and kitchen tables in Devon to a beautiful manor house in Sussex.

films

"films" is a dark fantasy music unit which is centred around two female vocalists who sing in their own originally created languages. They make creative and beautiful music using the classical sounds of piano and stringed instruments, often blending them with electric, destructive rhythms.

They debuted by releasing their first album 'Messenger' in 2010, followed with their second album 'a forbidden garden' in 2013. In November 2016, films released their third album, 'signs from the past'.

In The Labyrinth

In The Labyrinth is an experimental musical project based in Stockholm, Sweden, and is led by Peter Lindahl.

The main concern is to mix a wide array of styles to create a symbiosis quite unlike most music heard of today.
You could define it as progressive rock with a strong ethnical element or almost like an early Pink Floyd adorned with both classical and oriental overtones.
Three CD's and a compilation album have been released so far.
The texture of these is mostly mysterious and melancholy, often broadened by rich arrangements that feature diverse instrumentation and sometimes vocals. There is an emphasis put on beauty but also on the haunting and the desolate.

In Stockholm back in 1980, Aladdin’s Lantern was formed by Peter Lindahl, Mikael Gejel and Ulf Hansson.
Over the next decade, various musicians came and left. One was Karin Langhard-Gejel, another one was Stefan Andersson.
The style in which they played was mainly Middle Eastern, their playlist featuring both traditional numbers and material put together by some of the members themselves.
The performances of Aladdin‘s Lantern included all sorts of assignments like backing up “belly dancers” and playing at clubs and festivals.
By the entry of the nineties, they had switched from being a part time live act to becoming a band more or less confined to the studio environment. Around ’93 the name Aladdin’s Lantern was swapped for Labyrinth and in ’94 to In The Labyrinth, which was essentially a way to avoid the risk of being confused with the heavy rock band Labyrinth.

Dead Can Dance

The Australian ethereal neoclassical duo Dead Can Dance announced their reunion back in May 2011.
They are now offering a free four track EP enititled "Live Happenings - Part 1".

Dead Can Dance formed in Melbourne in August '81 by Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry.

The band relocated to London in May '82 and disbanded in '98.

Australian music historian Ian McFarlane described Dead Can Dance as having an ambient style of world music that "constructed soundscapes of mesmerising grandeur and solemn beauty...with African polyrhythms, Gaelic folk, Gregorian chants, Middle Eastern mantras, and art-rock."
