Tim Bowness
Tim Bowness has released his fourth solo album "Lost In The Ghost Light".
The album has been mixed and mastered by Steven Wilson and is unlike any in Tim’s back catalogue.
Bowness utilises a core band comprising Stephen Bennett (Henry Fool), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief), Hux Nettermalm (Paatos) and Andrew Booker (Sanguine Hum), and is also joined by guests including Kit Watkins (Happy The Man/Camel), Steve Bingham (no-man) and the legendary Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull). Andrew Keeling (Robert Fripp/Hilliard Ensemble/Evelyn Glennie) arranges for string quartet and flute on three of the album’s songs.
Lost In The Ghost Light is a concept album revolving around the onstage and backstage reflections of a fictional ‘classic’ Rock musician in the twilight of his career. Ranging from the hypnotic opener Worlds Of Yesterday to the wistful climax of Distant Summers, via the thrilling rage of Kill The Pain That’s Killing You and the orchestral expanse of You’ll Be The Silence, the album features some stunning solos and harmonically rich compositions that represent Bowness’s most musically ambitious work to date.
yrically, the album addresses how the era of streaming and ageing audiences affects creativity, how a life devoted to music impacts on real / family life, and how idealistic beginnings can become compromised by complacency and the fear of being replaced by younger, more vital artists.

The Spiritual Machines
Named after famed futurist/novelist Ray Kurzweil’s book The Age of the Spiritual Machines, The Spiritual Machines is Evan Frankfort (all instruments) and James Grundler (vocals). The band’s first album "Volunteer", is a science fiction concept album, one that can only be described as epic – an original headphone trip exploring the concept of living outside of one’s body. It asks the question: if we are able to upload our brains so that our essence continues on after our body gives out, what would happen to our minds? Their second album "Awake Alert Alive almost" was released February 14, 2017.

Kyros
Kyros (known as Synaesthesia 2012-2015) formed in 2012 in London, England and consists of Adam Warne on lead vocals and keyboards, Joey Frevola and Sam Higgins on guitar, Peter Episcopo on bass guitar and Robin Johnson on drums. The five piece came together after Adam was in need of completing the band line up to transition from a solo studio project to a fully fledged performing and writing group. Not afraid to take songwriting and musical experimentation to a whole new level by pushing the boundaries. Creating fresh, new and exciting music with influences ranging from eighties pop e.g. Depeche Mode and Kate Bush through to modern post-progressive and alternative rock music such as Muse and Porcupine Tree.

Krokus
The Swiss hard rock legends Krokus have released a new album titled "Big Rocks" this 27th of January.
Since 1975, Krokus has stood for high- quality, honest-to-goodness, hand-made power rock and continues the same in this album as well. But this album comprises only of covers, including a cover of a song of their own fourth album.
The great thing about ‘Big Rocks’ is that the sound is full-on vintage power rock with a touch of blues and without any of the usual studio trickery of today. The band sounds raw and flawless and will be a trip down memory lane for lovers of the rock ‘n’ roll classics. Pure pleasure to spin this album again and again.

Big Wreck
Big Wreck is a Canadian-American rock band formed by Ian Thornley in Boston, Massachusetts in 1994. They disbanded in 2002 and Ian Thornley went on to a solo career with his own band Thornley. In 2010, Ian Thornley and Brian Doherty reunited for a cross-Canada tour, playing both Big Wreck and Thornley songs. The band's fifth album "Grace Street" was released on February 3rd, 2017.
Big Wreck's music is a little lesson in stretching rock’s boundaries with adventurous songwriting and a clever use of instrumentation. However, on "Grace Street" we found an organic sounding record at times channeling classic acts from hard rock's history with progressive yet accessible arrangements combined with their own unique style.
"Grace Street" is an exhilarating and refreshing rock album, one that is already one of the year’s best.
