Eine österreichische Rockband schickt sich an, ausgerechnet in der Musikhauptstadt Wien ihr erstes, selbstbetiteltes Studioalbum zu veröffentlichen, um den verblassten Glanz und die verflossene Gloria des Genres neu erstrahlen zu lassen. In einer Melange aus Blues, Rock und Psychedelica inszenieren The Weight federleicht die inhaltliche und musikalische Schwere ihrer Kompositionen, die sich stilistisch aus den 60er und 70er Jahren speisen. The Weight haben sich weit von zeitgenössischen Produktionstechniken entfernt, um aus dem unendlichen musikalischen Reservoir der Vergangenheit zu schöpfen. Violent Attitude If Noticed

The musical background of the band may vary a lot. It is possible to identify influences of jazz, bossa nova, blues, post punk, new wave, art rock, electro, hard rock and progressive rock. All these elements summed together result in V.A.I.N.'s music. It's not uncommon to hear quiet and mellow sounds changing into what may appear to be a sudden nightmare. From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a Dark Christmas) is the second classical and Christmas album, and the seventh studio album released by the Finnish soprano Tarja Turunen.

With the album release comes also Tarja Turunen's first graphic novel, From Spirits and Ghosts (Novel for a Dark Christmas). The 40-page novel is about the world of dark Christmas with accompanying art by Conor Boyle. The "novel for a dark Christmas" revolves around Tarja's two characters, the dark and light one, bringing together lonely souls during the festive season.

The album has been critically acclaimed by critics and fans alike, who have noted the dark twist Turunen achieved on the album and the combination of different languages; however, critics have commented that the album will be largely forgotten after the Christmas holidays.

Riccardo Romano Land

As the title "B612" already suggests, the album concept is based on "The Little Prince" by Saint-Exupéry, and the music does not accidentally remind us a bit of "Marillion": Besides playing the keyboards in the Italian symphonic rock band "RanestRane", Riccardo Romano is also a member of the "Steve Rothery Band", and he names Marillion's album "Brave" among the main inspirational sources. Moreover, both Steve Rothery and Steve Hogarth appear as guests, the latter even contributing a song ("The Snake", co-written by Riccardo Romano). Except for "The King", which departs remarkably (and, alas, inconveniently) from the overall style of the album, the songs share an exceptional angelic beauty in their melodies and arrangements, setting another highlight in the glorious tradition of "rock progressivo in Italia" (RPI).

In der von dem Autoren Hannes Moorhahn stammenden Kurzgeschichte geht es um eine Gruppe Aliens – die Brahma-Sox -, welche einen Jahrmarkt infiltrieren und dort Johnny Bobs Freundin entführen. Nun muss sich Johnny den Prüfungen der außerirdischen Gestaltwandler stellen, um seine Angebetete wieder zu erlangen. Dabei begegnet er Verbündeten, Verdammten und Weltzerstörern wie dem Ariola Tellerwäscher, der Katze Mad Jazz oder Ringer Beelzebubba, um im Finale dem Schrei eines Schmetterlings zu folgen, der das Tor in eine andere Dimension öffnet, in die Johnny Bob die Brahma-Sox mit Hilfe des Ulumulu Totems verbannt.
Die Aufnahmen zum zweiten Johnny Bob Album "Fjodor and the Watergiant" haben bereits im Mai 2017 begonnen...man darf gespannt sein.
