Brendan Perkins BA (1st class hons) has been playing music since the age
of 14, and quickly became familiar with many different instruments.
This has given him the advantage of being able to create entire finished
works of music with little help from anyone else.
Starting off with basic Portastudio equipment, Brendan created many
wierd and wonderful songs that exposed such influences as Pink Floyd,
Genesis, Yes, Jeff Wayne, Marillion, as well as various other
progressive rock artists.
Brendan has spent many years working with other people, using his
multi-instrumental and production skills to help create the sounds
required by other artists. As with many people, his self confidence in
his singing was rather low, until some great encouragement from family
and friends led to the confidence needed to try something new.
In 2010
he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree (Creative Music) with first class
honours. He is now setting up a business as a UK music composer, music
producer, sound engineer and studio technician.
Just dicovered his brilliant new album "Ternie Kell", which is an epic rock opera, but he has a huge discography at all.
Can't find more information about the artist at the moment, the only information I can provide is that there's also a comic about the story of the concept album in the making...some pages you can see here.
Kiama is touted as a progressive rock “supergroup”, featuring Rob
Reed (Magenta/Kompendium), Andy Edwards (Frost*/IQ), Luke Machin
(Maschine/The Tangent) and Dylan Thompson (Shadow of The Sun/The
Reasoning).
Kiama’s debut album"Sign Of IV"was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s ‘Real World’ studio.
“We drew from a pool of musical references from the early seventies who
were primarily thought of as rock bands, but to me were responsible for
some of the greatest ‘Prog’ epics. Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and
“Stairway to Heaven. Rainbow’s “Stargazer” and Queen’s “Bohemian
Rhapsody” were the order of the day. There was no point in doing what
each of us had done previously in our respective bands, the goal was to
do something different . One ingredient that you find with these
classic albums of the 70’s, was that the bands were not afraid to mix
the styles of music up from track to track. On a Zeppelin or Queen
album, each track would have a different feel, rock, folk, jazz, blues.
This is something we were not afraid to do. we just did what we liked,
so each track ended up with a different feel. These days albums are very
linear, stay in one style and can be a little monotonous.”
"Sign Of IV"reflects the very best in
modern progressive music. Skilfully written. Organic and spacious
arrangements. Nuances, mood changes and littered with sweet moments. A record worth remembering.

Hazmat Modine draws from the rich soil of American music of the 20's and 30's through to the 50's and early 60's, blending elements of early Blues, Hokum Jugband, Swing, Klezmer, New Orleans R & B, and Jamaican Rocksteady. The band is fronted by two harmonicas which use call and response, harmony, melody, and syncopated interweaving rhythms. The band includes tuba, guitar, and percussion, claviola and Hawaiian steel guitar. The band's sound reflects musical influences ranging from Avant-garde Jazz to Rockabilly and Western Swing to Middle-Eastern, African, and Hawaiian musical styles.
Hazmat Modine plays the kind of Blues one might have found in a barrelhouse in
New Orleans had the city been inhabited by gypsies who performed with
Otis Redding and the city had been built on the Black Sea. The band is
driven by harmonicas, tuba, drums, guitars, Banjo and a full horn
section. Guests play such exotic instruments as the Romanian cimbalom,
the banjitar, and the Claviola. Front man Wade Schuman has the
appropriately throaty voice of someone who has both hopped freight
trains and collaborated with the Throat Singers of Tuva. For the past
eight years, the band has been touring in over 40 countries worldwide.
They have collaborated/performed with a vast range of artists including
Bombino, Kronos Quartet, Cat Empire, the Gangbe Brass band from Benin,
and Natalie Merchant.
The title track from their first album "Bahamut", released in 2007, was
recently used in the 3D film Pina by Wim Wenders, and currently in a
performance by Pina Bausch and the Stuttgart Ballet.
Their second album "Cicada" in 2011 was awarded the Charles Cross award in France for best blues
album of the Year, and topped number one on the World Music Charts in
Europe.
Returned 2014 on disc with an hour of pure music on their "Live" album. 8 live tracks made over the last 10 years in 5 countries.
There new studio album "Extra-Deluxe-Supreme" is again released on Jaro records in 2015.
(“Hazmat”
is a portmanteau of “hazardous material” and “Modine” is the name of a
company that manufactures commercial heaters but may be used to refer to
the heater itself.)
Hazmat Modine is a band in perpetual motion.
To them, timelessness,
innovation and inclusiveness trump the trendy and the ephemeral. The
very definition of honest-to-goodness American roots music – but also
considerably more global and exotic – Hazmat Modine is visually and
aurally captivating, continually exploratory, and thoroughly engaging.
The
Jaunting Martyrs is a San Francisco/Bay Area cross-genre band that
combines elements of Rockabilly, Gypsy Swing, Surf, Blues, and good ol'
Rock 'n' Roll. The elements of story telling, poetry, references to
folklore, literary history, and current events in the lyricism and the
eclectic nature of this group produces music that is unique and yet
relatable. From the cross-genre sound & tight musicianship, to the
handmade custom designed costumes, to the DIY merch & posters of
original art, to the surprise guest appearances of clown acts &
sideshow freaks at shows, to the collaborative addition of varying local
horn players... This band puts on a multi-dimensional show like no
other.
The band started out as a circus band for various troupes along
the West Coast. In 2009 - after traveling up and down the west coast
providing sound tracks for trapeze, Juggling, clowning, aerial, fire
acts, and sidesho - Martyrs Brendan, Justine, & Justin stabalized in
SF/Bay Area to focus on developing their sound as a band. Two years
later they joined forces with music scholar clown guitarist Carlos and
eclectic multi-instrumentalist burlesque drummer Jimi to form an epic
all-star circus band under the name The Jaunting Martyrs. The band name
refers to "The Excursion of the Jaunting Martyrs on Mars", an
intergalactic sound piece Justine was mailing off at the SFO airport for
a space music scholarship the day she met Brendan on a train (2006).
Postcards From Arkham, post-rock atmospheric songs inspirated by Howard Phillips Lovecraft's stories takes you to the melancholic and gloomy world.
The "ÆØN5" album shall be the successor to the acclaimed album "Oceanize", which revolved around the Cthulhu mythos. The new piece on the other hand shall offer original tales, inspired not only by Lovecraft, but also by E. A. Poe or H. Murakami, complemented with original artwork or fantasy music video.
