Southern Empire

Southern Empire is Australia's newest, most exciting progressive rock band.

Formed by keyboardist Sean Timms after the dis-banding of Unitopia, Southern Empire will astound the listener with intricate yet catchy songs, amazing musicianship and a harder, more edgy sound perfectly suited to today's generation.

Their s/t debut album was released February 22nd 2016.

After a 17 year involvement with Unitopia ended in 2013, Sean Timms had an album's worth of songs written, but no band to play and record them. Sean approached vocalist Danny Lopresto about forming a band to play the material and ultimately record an album and tour. The two had known each other for many years and had worked together in the studio, but never as a song writing partnership or in the live arena. Danny was extremely excited at the prospect and the two set about adding his powerfully emotional vocals to the song demos. They then auditioned for a guitarist, bass player and drummer to complete the line-up Enter Cam Blokland, Jez Martin & Brody Green. Soon after, the band started rehearsing the material which due to the creative input of all of the members quickly took on a new lease of life.
In April 2015, the group recorded the bed tracks live at internationally renowned recording studio Chapel Lane. Over the next few months overdubs were recorded at Sean's studio, Timms Tunes and the album mixed by Gabs Agostino at Chapel Lane.
Adding their talents to the line-up are Tim Irrgang, percussionist with Unitopia and UPF, internationally renowned composer and multi-instrumentalist Adam Page on Saxophone and flute and Samurai of Prog frontman Steve Unruh on Violin and flute.
Nearly every part of the recording process was filmed and the video clips will be available as a bonus disk with the album.

Bent Knee

Bent Knee is a genre-defying art-rock collective from Boston, MA. Fiercely innovative, the band bridges the gap between the experimental and the familiar, merging texture and style into music that’s moving, addictive, and unapologetically original. Drawing from an expansive sonic palette edged by the touchstones of heavy psych, baroque pop, and avant-jazz, the ensemble crafts compositions where melodies swell and collapse, only to coalesce unexpectedly into anthemic crescendo.

misty9

Brendan Perkins

Brendan Perkins BA (1st class hons) has been playing music since the age of 14, and quickly became familiar with many different instruments. This has given him the advantage of being able to create entire finished works of music with little help from anyone else.

Starting off with basic Portastudio equipment, Brendan created many wierd and wonderful songs that exposed such influences as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Jeff Wayne, Marillion, as well as various other progressive rock artists.

Brendan has spent many years working with other people, using his multi-instrumental and production skills to help create the sounds required by other artists. As with many people, his self confidence in his singing was rather low, until some great encouragement from family and friends led to the confidence needed to try something new.
In 2010 he achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree (Creative Music) with first class honours. He is now setting up a business as a UK music composer, music producer, sound engineer and studio technician.

Just dicovered his brilliant new album "Ternie Kell", which is an epic rock opera, but he has a huge discography at all.

Can't find more information about the artist at the moment, the only information I can provide is that there's also a comic about the story of the concept album in the making...some pages you can see here.
